- Circuit-court files: contact the Circuit Clerk or use the statewide West Virginia court record access page
- Records not online: direct a written request to the custodian under the West Virginia Freedom of Information Act. The statute sets a maximum of five days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays, for the custodian to provide copies, arrange inspection, or give a written denial. Copies may be charged at actual reproduction cost.
